Volunteer

Join us on the ground to build a safe space a family can call home!

Volunteers are at the heart of our organization! In addition to our standard volunteer program, we offer opportunities for student engagement, community service, and through our Women Build program.

Together, we can make an impact in our fight against housing instability, and provide local families with a safe place to call home.

Student Engagement

Habitat-NCG’s Student Engagement program engages high school students in North Fulton, Cherokee, Forsyth, and Dawson Counties. Student Engagement mobilizes young people to assist with sponsoring and building a house each year. Through Student Engagement, students gain a better understanding of housing needs in their community. All students have the opportunity to engage in fundraising, education, and advocacy activities, and those over 16 are eligible to assist with home construction.

I’m 16 or older. Can I help build a Habitat house?

Yes! You can participate in almost all aspects of construction of a Habitat for Humanity home. You are required to have your guardian sign this waiver and turn in at sign in on the construction site.

How do Student Engagement groups raise money to build houses?

There are several different ways to raise money, from running a car wash, to organizing a putt-putt tournament, to writing grant applications.

Check out a new way to help your high school Habitat club raise funds to build a Habitat home! It’s easy and fun! Your Club’s president can click HERE, set up their personal page then set up the high school team page. Tell us your “Why”, upload pictures and share with your friends, family, and fellow students!

I’m younger than 16. Can I help build a Habitat house?

There are several ways you can participate; you can raise funds, advocate, reach out to involve your community, and help plan events. You can also participate in Host Teams on the build site. While you are not allowed to participate in active construction, you can help with volunteer hospitality. Click here for the Host Team agreement.

This sounds great! How do I join Student Engagement?

Community Service

Habitat For Humanity-North Central Georgia Is Currently Holding Spots On A Waitlist.

We accept court ordered community service volunteers on the construction site only. To sign up to complete community service you must complete the outlined steps.

Without completing this process volunteer hours will not appear in the system, and will therefore be unable to verify. There are limited spots available to community service volunteers. Individuals interested in participating with Habitat-NCG to complete their hours may contact the volunteer coordinator. When requesting a letter for hours verification, please allow 24-48 hours for response.

Step 1:

Contact the volunteer coordinator BEFORE registering to volunteer on any sites for community service hours.

Step 2:

Complete the questionnaire regarding your court-ordered community service obligation. Receive instructions on registration through our online volunteer portal and receive the reservation link from the volunteer coordinator.

Step 3:

Volunteers must pre-register for each site by using the link provided. It is the responsibility of each individual to sign in and out on the iPad at the start and finish of his/her shift. This ensures that the volunteer’s hours will be recorded and accurate.
